The student registration fee includes:

Students must provide a letter from their supervisor or head of Department/Division certifying their full-time student status.

Extra tickets to the Porto Tour and Dinner Banquet on the afternoon and evening of July 20, 2006 can be bought for Accompanying persons. The fee is 90 Euros.

Besides the Porto Tour included in the Conference Program, there are also available other possibilities for tours, according to the following planning.

19 July 2006 - Wednesday

PORTO PANORAMIC CITY TOUR  

Half-day (Afternoon)

15h00 Departure for a panoramic city tour of Porto.  This Tour will give you a general idea of the city, of its historical and modern quarters and its cultural and social aspects. It will pass nearby the most important monuments of the town such as Tower of Clérigos, Boavista Avenue (modern area of the town), Castelo do Queijo – the 17th. Cent. Fortress S. Francisco Xavier.and includes guided visit to the Stock Exchange Palace, an imposing building of the 19th. century, famous for its marvellous “Moorish Hall” and S. Francisco Church buit on the 13h.century in gothic style. Tour proceeds with a walk through Ribeira old quarters declared by UNESCO as “Porto World Heritage” and a Visit to a Port Wine Cellar with wine tasting.

20 July 2006 - Thrusday

VISIT TO “CASA DE SERRALVES” (Modern Art Museum)

Half Day (Afternoon)

15h00 Departure from the Hotel following by the Douro River side, the Passeio Alegre Garden and S.João da Foz  Castle.Stop for a short panoramic view. Continuing to Serralves Foundation, a cultural Institution of European ambit. It stays in a property of rare beauty -  Parque de Serralves - where we may admire the “Casa de Serralves” – a 1930 building and the Serralves Museum of Contemporany Art. This foundation has many services destined to the public. Among them, a Bookshop specialized in art and a store in the Contemporaneous Art Museum. In its interior, we can find a restaurant with a terrace  having a view over the Parque of Serralves and a Library. Return to the Hotel passing by the Boavista Avenue.

21 July 2006 – Friday

VISIT TO SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

Full Day

08h00 - Departure to Santiago de Compostela, the spiritual and political capital of Galiza is consired by  UNESCO -  World Heritage Site. The focal point is the Gothic Cathedral (the biggest one in Iberian Peninsula). Time free for private devotion and lunch (opportunity to taste the Galician gastronomy and wines). After lunch, you'll cross the natural border, created by River Minho, like the Spanish did on the 18th century, trying to invade Portugal , and finding the opponent on the other side of the fortified walls of Valença do Minho. A marvellous small town, which is a reference when talking about the singular fortified structures, developed by the French specialist Monsieur Vauban. Return to Porto.
