Energy is the fuel used to power human activities that ensure societies\u2019 development and human comfort. Thus, the growing demand for energy coming from developing countries is unavoidable. Sustainability and environmental quality must be ensured taking into consideration the known finite resources of the earth and the dramatic climate changes that the power industry is bringing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The energy field is a complex socio-economic environment that requires a great deal of analysis and planning. In fact, many problems that arise in this field are complex and have characteristics such as high dimensionality, high number of constraints, lack of information, noisy and corrupted data. These issues often present time constraints that involve solutions in near to real-time operation. Hence, achieving good and precise solutions in a fair amount of time remains a concern for many energy problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scope and Topics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This special session is a follow-up to the previous editions organized at CEC since 2018. Papers on the application of the EC to real-world problems in the field of energy are welcome. Problems may be based on various energy carriers (e.g., heating, cooling and power supply) and different market levels (from household to industrial level). Problems of high complexity under uncertainty, dynamic objective settings, many-objectives, and large-scale search spaces are more than welcome. This special session aims to bridge the gap between energy engineers and the new EC applications for energy optimization problems.
