Energy drives the actions that bring about societal progress and individual well-being. Consequently, the increasing energy needs of emerging economies are inevitable. Considering the planet’s limited resources and the drastic climatic changes the power sector is causing, we must establish measures to safeguard the environmental quality and promote sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The socioeconomic landscape of the energy sector is complex and calls for extensive research and preparation. However, many issues that develop in this area are notoriously difficult because of factors including high dimensionality, many restrictions, a lack of knowledge, and noisy or damaged data. These problems often have time limits that need solutions in near real-time. Consequently, getting near-optimal and accurate answers in a reasonable time remains an issue for several energy problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scope and Topics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This special session is a follow-up to the previous editions held at CEC beginning in 2018. We encourage submissions of papers that focus on applying the EC to practical challenges about the energy sector. Different types of energy carriers (such as heating, cooling, and electricity supply, for example) and market levels might be the source of the issues (from household to industrial level). We are very interested in problems with high complexity and unpredictability and problems with dynamic goal settings, multiple objectives, and expansive search areas. This special session aims to facilitate communication between energy engineers and the developers of new EC apps to solve energy optimization issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Special Session is also part of IEEE CIS ISATC Taskforce 3 activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
