Abstract

An actor can assume one or more roles. Roles are not strict to actors to allow the flexibility of experiment new approaches.

1. Description

The IESO's Actor Roles module describes the main players involved in the smart grid (SG) and electricity markets (EM) domains. It aims to model the large diversity of actors involved, and their roles, as well as new stakeholders that eventually emerge.

Actor-Roles overview
Figure 1. Actor roles overview

The IESO’s Actor Roles module describes the main entities involved in the power and energy systems domain. It aims to models the large variety of actors involved, their roles, and behaviors. To this end, it models three core abstract concepts, i.e., the Actor, the Role, and the Behaviour concepts. An Actor can assume one or more roles where each Role is related to one or more behaviors. This module intends to be extended by applicational ontology modules to describe the entities included. Subclasses of the Role class are already available representing the most common existing roles, such as different types of players and operators. Each application ontology must extend the Behaviour class to define the respective agent’s behavior. Thus, providing the means to determine each agent’s behaviors in runtime according to the user’s configuration.
