Off the Hook: Don’t Fall for Phishing – European Cybersecurity Month
During European Cybersecurity Month, ENISA (the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity) promotes the campaign “Off the Hook – Don’t Be Phished”, aimed at raising awareness and empowering citizens and organizations against the rise of phishing attacks in Europe. This type of cyberattack remains one of the most common methods used by criminals to obtain personal data, access credentials, and financial information.
The campaign emphasizes vigilance and encourages a critical attitude towards suspicious communications, reinforcing the message: “Think before you click.” Through videos, educational materials, and real-life examples, ENISA demonstrates how attackers use emails, messages, and fake websites that impersonate legitimate entities, tricking victims into disclosing confidential information or downloading malicious software.
ENISA also highlights that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility. Every citizen, company, and public institution must contribute to a safer digital environment by adopting basic measures such as verifying the origin of messages, avoiding suspicious links, and reporting attempted fraud.
With this initiative, the European Union reinforces its commitment to fostering a culture of digital security based on prevention, trust, and cooperation — all essential for a more secure and resilient digital space.
