The III Annual Meeting of the RIBIERSE-CYTED network was held in Bogotá, Colombia, alongside the VIII Ibero-American Congress of Smart Cities (ICSC-CITIES 2025), combining internal work sessions with the presentation of scientific contributions linked to the network’s thematic lines. The meeting brought together representatives from 22 Ibero-American countries, integrating dozens of research groups and nearly 300 participants who collaborate within RIBIERSE-CYTED on large-scale renewable energy integration in electrical systems.
Within this context, two papers co‑authored by researchers from GECAD/ISEP and our international partners (UNICAMP and Univ. Jaen) were accepted for oral presentation and publication in the Springer Proceedings in Energy series.
The first paper, “Evaluating Non‑Network Solutions for Distribution Network Reinforcement Deferral: A 30‑Year Scenario‑Based Analysis”, first-authored by Fábio Casto, examines how non‑network alternatives can postpone traditional grid reinforcements over a long‑term planning horizon, and was selected among the best conference papers for extension to a journal special issue.
The second paper, “Agrivoltaic Systems: An Integrated Solution for Energy,
Food, and Environmental Sustainability”, led by Prof. Bárbara Teruel (UNICAMP), synthesizes recent advances in agrivoltaic systems as a joint solution for energy generation, food production and environmental sustainability. This article is strengthening the research ties between UNICAMP and GECAD/ISEP in the intersection of energy transition, and smart agriculture and cities.
