Presence at WCCI 2026

Fernando Lezama, researcher at GECAD – Research Group on Intelligent Engineering and Computing for Advanced Innovation Development, Polytechnic of Porto, participated in IEEE WCCI 2026, the IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence, held from 21 to 26 June 2026 at MECC Maastricht, in Maastricht, The Netherlands.

During the congress, Fernando contributed to the scientific programme through several activities related to computational intelligence and its application to energy systems. His participation included the presentation of the 2026 Competition on Evolutionary Computation in the Energy Domain: Fairness-aware Pricing in Energy Communities, the special session “User-Centric, Fair Algorithms Applications and Complex Systems”, and the presentation of two scientific papers within the IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation programme.

These contributions reflect GECAD’s ongoing work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, evolutionary computation, smart grids, energy communities, and fair decision-support mechanisms for future energy systems.

This participation reinforces GECAD’s active presence in international scientific events and its commitment to advancing intelligent, sustainable, and socially aware solutions for the energy transition.
